Memorial Weekend

I am so sore today I can hardly move, okay, I can move, it is just extremely painful.

It started on Friday. That was my first physical therapy (PT) appointment. I was poked and prodded and pulled. Apparently, I have 0 (zero) range of motion for my feet and hip. This is a result of my calf muscles and my Achilles tendonitis. My therapist found this hard to believe and kept pulling and testing my muscle connection points until I was seriously hurting. I limped the rest of the day, but I still did my daily stretching exercises. So the muscle pain started Friday.

Saturday was my annual gazebo cleaning. A good sweeping was all that was really required inside. I rearranged the furniture and took some of the furniture out because there was too much furniture inside. I did some digging outside with a rake and hoe. The deck is gone now, for those of you that forgot, Eric and I took it out last year because it was rotted and dangerous to walk on. All the neighbors were up and friendly. One wanted to know why Arizona and I hadn't replaced the deck yet. The other told me that gas prices were projected to be $7.50/gallon by the end of the summer. Now that's just crazy talk! I will end up riding my bike to work at this rate.

The gazebo's side screen I replaced a few years ago never fit well and I finally had to concede defeat. I put it in the car and dropped it off at the hardware store for resizing and repair. I don't like going into this hardware because of a guy that works there. He never seems to "get" customer service or the work ethic. He would not give me a date it would be done ("depends on how busy we are this weekend" crunch, munch munch)and sat in the back eating doritos while his co-worker tried to run the register and help customers. Feeling sorry for his co-worker and feeling discouraged, I took some things from the gazebo home to launder and that consumed the rest of my day. I was washing bedspreads and sheets in preparation for summer company. It was a breezy and warm day and everything dried quickly on the clothesline.

Sunday, I concentrated on my house. More laundry! It was even breezier and warmer than Saturday. Record drying time on the clothesline! I weeded my front rock garden and tried to mow my backyard with my old fashioned push mower. Everytime I found my groove I would hit a soft spot or a stick and it would jolt to a stop. This was hard on my legs and arms and I actually worked up a prickley sweat. That was it for me, I knew I was overdoing it and it looked like we were going to get rain soon. I jumped in the shower and stayed there for awhile. Then I decided to sit on the deck until the rain chased me inside. I knitted on the back deck and could hear the boat traffic on the lake and the neighborhood sounds of a busy weekend. The clouds never opened up so I was on the deck until the mosquitos chased me inside. The news said thunderstorms that night so I planned on staying inside on Sunday. I slept with the windows open. It was wonderful.

Monday, no rain! We need it. My yard is dust and Sadie is covered in it. Instead it is mostly cloudy and 70's. This is not a bad thing, I just hope it rains the rest of the week. I have vowed not to do any work today - in the yard or at the gazebo. I am sore and tired. I had made a list of things to do inside in case of rain, my house is a mess. I don't feel up to crawling about in my crawl space and opening the vents or even the easier non dirty stuff. Just sitting on the deck, listening to the weekend noises and sipping coffee. I need to go to Wal-mart for a few things, but I refuse to go until tomorrow. I need to evaluate the budget before I decide. That will get done today. I had to put Sadie in the house, it got too warm for her outside, she still has a lot of her winter fur. She has been weird since I got back. I don't know if she is tired or depressed. She seems to be missing her Brandy family. 5 people, 1 dog, 1 bunny, 2 mice, free roam of lots of acreage and a river to play in. I don't understand her problem! :)

Okay, before I forget again. Who wants to go canoeing, Saturday, June 28th? You can choose a canoe, a kayak, or a tube. Let me know which ones and how many want to go and I will make arrangements. I have a friend from downstate staying with me that weekend and we plan on going regardless - the more the merrier! I think Ali and Jordan are in for a kayak. I will see about putting together a poll for us to RSVP. If not, just add a comment, yae or nae!

Time to go inside, there is pollen build up on the laptop screen! *achoo*

Later inside: It is 80 in my carport. I did my stretches and now I am giving myself a pedicure. It is really windy. I just checked the weather...again it calls for thunderstorms tonight...and get this, freeze warning for Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. 80 today, 32 tomorrow, nice, not.
