Made chicken stuffed with cream cheese and chive wrapped in bacon for dinner this evening. Yummy!
Ever wondered what is like living "Up North"? I turned 50 recently, so this now a 50 something woman exploring her numerous (if fleeting) interests while living in a rural area of vast natural resources, but little else. Really, I started doing this as an experiment. It is my first blog. It has turned into much more. This is how I keep my thoughts straight, my angst known, my opinions expressed, and my friends and family up to date on my exciting adventures. Is knitting an adventure?

Quick Note
Just finished Java Programming I and speech last session. They ended yesterday. I had today off and tomorrow I start college algebra for my second session. I am happy I only have one class for this session because it's going to be a monster! It has been many years since I've had a math class and I will need some hard-core refreshers. Hello YouTube here I come. :)

Memorial Day Weekend
Sadie and I are going walking with Robbie again today. No 8 1/2 miles this time! :) The plan is an unknown distance (up to me) on the horse trails at Rollways with a stop for fishing and snacks. Dinner at the Bear Den.
The bathroom renovation starts next week! I am so excited to say goodbye to the little things that drive me nuts in there. Getting a new tub, fixtures and surround and lots of little things fixed.
They took the plastic down from the gazebo Last weekend in a cloud of mosquitoes. I plan to treat it for ants this weekend.
We are having a very tenacious winter that does not want to let go, causing a cold spring with snow even after Mother's Day.
Come on summer!

It's been a long winter
It seems like it has been a long winter. It is catching up with me. I am extremely lethargic, tired, and have no motivation these days.
As always my family, friends and critters are keeping me sane.
I had a nice birthday. We combined my birthday, my sister's, and my parents anniversary and had a steak dinner at the hunting camp. We did not get to walk because the roads were icy and sloppy. In fact, it was kind of nerve-racking getting home on those back roads.
I have been keeping up with my exercise, thankfully. However, I have not been going to yoga and I think if I start going again I would feel better. Refer back to previous paragraph about motivation… LOL
The month of March came in like a lamb and as it is nearing the end of the month I am sure we are due for another storm. I must be patient.
I had someone come today and give me an estimate on repairing my bathroom subfloor and tub surround. I didn't get the number yet, but, it is not as extensive as I feared. He went down in the crawl and looked around and it is actually dry down there!

Winter session break
This was an ugly session for school. I ended up with a teacher I can't stand and cannot teach. I will have to take this course over if I want to learn anything.
I have decided to keep Pumpkin, our foster kitty. She is quite the character and I think she is adorable. They are starting to warm up to each other, just a little!
I have invested in a few dogs toys to try and keep Sadie's mind active well the weather outside is frightful.
We have been getting lots of snow and I have started snowshoeing again. It is much easier than walking.

Cabin fever?
The last few weeks have been a trial. I made the mistake of registering for one additional course. The resulting workload and stress involved threw me into a tailspin. I dropped the course but the stress caused a flare in my fibromyalgia, The additional work put me behind in another class. And the fog is making it difficult for me to concentrate on my studies. The stress lowered my immunities and I caught a mild cold the third week in January.
Additionally, the weather has turned very cold for the last 2 to 3 weeks. This makes it difficult to exercise which exacerbates my symptoms. It also makes my dog miserable.
She is already miserable because I am fostering a cat. I originally agreed to foster the cat hoping to find a companion for Sadie. Pumpkin is a perfect cat in every way except for Sadie is extremely jealous. The cat is tolerant of her, but is not friendly. I agree, this is completely normal But she resents the cat and will not be in the same room with her. If the cat is on the couch with me Sadie goes to the bedroom. Obviously, it is interfering with our usual bond of closeness.
On Saturday, Pumpkin will be attending an adoption fair. It wasn't an easy decision, as I said, she is the perfect cat. After speaking with the rescue coordinator we have determined that Sadie would be best with a kitten to raise. She will keep her eyes open for a good candidate.
I am attempting to take today off from my studies and rest hoping to have a clear mind tomorrow to conquer my homework.
Also wearing on my mind, I have not talked to Sheep Boy since before Christmas. I miss him. There have been a few emails, and I know he is suffering, physically and emotionally, as well. Michigan winters are very hard on chronic pain!
My pain is starting to subside and I have made a appointment for a massage on Thursday. I know things are on the upswing, I just need to be patient.
And take my vitamin D3…:)
