Post script to the new year thaw...

I finally got around to downloading the videos from the flip mino. I uploaded a short clip of Sadie doing her thing...running! The video of my first, minor, run down the hill is taking too long to load. But I will keep trying. The other images are snapshots pulled from the flip mino videos.

I went sledding the day after Christmas. This caused a flare that lasted until I went to bed last night. 12/26-12/31. 5 day duration. That is the same as the one I had last year in the second week (est.) of December.

The image above (and all the Sadie photos) was taken on 12/31, yesterday. Today there was no snow at all. The mist and fog is from the warm air meeting the cold snow. It is kinda cool to walk when it is like this. All sound is muffled. I guess it could be considered eerie, but I enjoyed it. I don't think I would feel the same way if it was dark.

Sadie ran off on me and wouldn't come when I called.  She had not been out in awhile and didn't want to leave yet. Think of a 5 year old kid. She ignored the horn honking too.  So I drove off and parked in the corner of the parking lot out of sight.  Within 10 minutes I heard her tags and saw her looking for me. She was running from one office door to the next thinking I was inside.  Then she saw the car and began trotting toward it.  I am not sure if she knew I was in the car or not. She hesitated when I got out and opened the back door for her. I think she thought she was in trouble. But I think it was punishment enough to temporarily hide from a dog with separation anxiety.  And I consider the experiment a success. Today, she stayed close to me when we walked. Not attached at the hip close, just more mindful of my where-abouts.

Winter thaw to start the new year

I have had a busy Christmas break despite a the first fibro flare since last December. Last December was a emotional stress flare. This one was a physical stress flare. Physical, how? I went sledding. It would have been fine, except it was a fast hill and I forgot to steer. The first wipe out hurt, but the second one was out of a Road Runner cartoon. I was airborn over the ledge forever, before I dropped 12 feet straight down. I was able to get right up and was fine the rest of the day. I figured I would be sore, but didn't anticipate the flare - which lasted until this morning.
I was able to take care of a lot of personal things over break. I am buying my car from the lease company, seeing doctors, drove to TC to test drive a car for a Target gift card, researching winter hiking boots, and trying to finish a sweater I started during the opening ceremonies of the Olympics...yeah, over a year ago.

Higgins had only been froze over about a week when the weather turned warm - the 40s - for a few days. All the snow in my yard has melted.  Today, it is back in the 30s and it snowed off and on without accumulating.

I was able to start walking again yesterday. When I'm working, I don't get home until 5pm and it is dark by 5:30ish. Also, it has been so cold I haven't wanted to get out. We got a lot of snow in a short time and the trail was not clear enough for me to walk without my feet getting wet, cold, and full of snow.  My new boots should be in this week and I hope to walk more often.

I really need to pursue this. I am noticing that I am "hibernating". Not like a cuddly bear either. It is a nice way of saying I am withdrawing, becoming introverted, and avoiding social situations. I'm in pain and when I'm in pain, I withdraw.  My doctor has told me to fight this.
Some enterprising squirrel found the perfect hiding spot!

I made dog biscuits for Sadie's friends for Christmas presents.
