Cold and Bright

I woke up to a sunny and blistering 10 degree morning.

While I was enjoying my coffee, I surfed the internet and explored all the sponsors for the ugly kitchen contest. I daydreamed about what elements and expertise they could bring to my kitchen. But it also frightened me. What if I did win and I have this wonderful kitchen, then I turn around and there is the rest of my house! Argh! Drop ceilings, cheap carpet, and tacky paneling. I have a tendency to over think or analyse things (I can hear Traci now, she's saying, "No!" in disbelief). So back to dreaming!

Then I decided to take Sadie for a walk to get it over with. She "acts out" in several different annoying ways, I will spare you the details, if she doesn't get any exercise. So this had to be endured. I put several layers of clothes on, grab a hat, scarf, and my trusty camera and we head out to Marl Lake. I am thinking that with the cold snap, it HAS to be froze over so I don't have to worry if Sadie runs out on it. Needless to say, we had the trail to ourselves, only a lone fisherman boring holes close to shore when we started out. It was actually a pleasant walk and Sadie enjoyed herself too. She seemed ready to go the same time as I did and I can only blame the cold. She doesn't have much of a fur coat.

We cruised Chaney Point Drive and the way home and I could see open water about 100 yards out. A small patch, but I was still surprised. My camera batteries were dead so I couldn't get a shot of it. Sorry Chris! :)

Now I am happily bundled up under blankets in the back room with the electric heat cranked and thoughts of a nap dancing in my head. The best thing is Sadie has been curled up in a happy, sleepy ball in the front window since we returned. Peace in the house once again.
