The killdeers were making a big racket and I figured she was too close to their nest. Killdeers nest on the ground. They will make a lot of distracting racket and drag their wing on the ground, faking injury, to lure predators away from their nest. At the last minute, they will fly safely into the air. Naturally, I think they are leading Sadie on a merry chase.
Just like that morning, with Mister, I was a bit off base with my thinking. I was making my way to the car when Sadie stood up against a tree and looked upwards. Thinking that is where the killdeer went, I looked higher up in the branches for a brown bird with a bright white chest. Imagine my surprise when I spotted a gray cat precariously perched on a very short limb a few feet from Sadie's head! The cat was looking right at me as if to say "Do you mind getting this damn dog out of here?" So I complied. I ordered Sadie to "Leave it" and she did. I had been ordering her to "Come" for several minutes just moments before...then suddenly she is listening to me? A day full of surprises.
We piled in the car and headed to town to return the lawn mower. My timing was perfect! Mom was pulling her yummy Spanish rice out of the oven for dinner! I ate with Mom and Dad and got the leftover rice to take home too! Guess what I am having for dinner tonight?
Today, I called the airlines to see what they considered "special arrangements". Apparently, it means someone asked for them, but the airline doesn't care. Actually, I think I got an idiot the first time around. He made me log in to their website and walked me through a few things and kept trying to rush me off the phone. Teri don't do that. If you are in customer service or tech support and you try to rush me, I make your life miserable until I get bored or distracted. He wasn't answering my question, a simple question. It was "will this option ensure my father has a seat in the front with some leg room?" After I batted him around for awhile, like Mister with the baby bird, I released him and redialed, hoping to get someone who could give me what I wanted. lol I did. I mean, come on! They had a seat assigned for him in the back of the plane. Now he, and mom and I, have front seats AND gate to gate transportation on all the flights. Oh, and they do allow knitting needles in your carry on!
Usually, a call to a custom service representative would frustrate me to tears (remember the credit card calls?). This was painless. I am puzzled. Last week, I was one step away from a complete meltdown. Today, stupid people hardly bother me?
I am not sleeping well and I am tired all the time. Do I need a vacation? Or do I need a doctor's opinion? How about BOTH! I have a doctor appointment in the morning. I am thinking I need my medicine adjusted again (I'm in pain alot lately too, but that could be the weather). Could it be *shudder* menopause? NOOoooo. I am going to have a huge battery of bloodwork done. Because of the gastric bypass surgery, (the hugely successful, best thing I ever did for myself, no regrets surgery!), I need to have annual bloodwork. They have to monitor vitamin levels to make sure I am absorbing enough through diet. I have to be checked for anemia and tons of other stuff. It has been about 2 years since I had them and I received a letter in the mail from Hurley (the clinic that did the surgery) indicating I was overdue. So I will have all that tomorrow.
I am really looking forward to going to the Twisted One's on vacation. I am feeling out of sorts and I need to be in the cocoon of family. Hanging out, watching scrimmages, meeting S's huge family, and soaking in the heat and humidity sounds just like tranquility to me. Who knows? It could be just what the doctor orders!
Now, if I can just get home without being tasered, like this little 72 yr old lady....(read about it here)
Imagine the headline: "Teri Tasered in Texas" lmao
