I awoke early with a headache, so I took my sinus medicine and I went back to bed until 10am. I felt better, but it was still there. While waiting to get my haircut, I sat in a sunbeam - it felt wonderful. Then I had Cari cut my hair pretty short. It was way past time to have it cut. I get really relaxed when I have my haircut, and I thought the head massage would decrease the headache, and it did help.
Next stop - West Branch for new shoes. The beastmaster told me my current shoes were unacceptable and were making my problem worse. I budgeted $40-45 to get a new pair of tennis shoes - another unexpected expense, but "an investment in my health" per the beast. She is right, I know, so off I went, to comply. I am a good patient, aren't I? :)

It has been a long time since I shopped for tennis shoes and the selection was overwhelming. The prices were all over the board. Thankfully, a girl came by and asked me if I needed help. I gave her my guidelines and she dove right in - even took me to the clearance rack to see what there was. I ended up with a pair of reeboks for $31 that leveled my feet beautifully and are a joy to walk in - instead of painful. I threw the shoes I walked into the store with in the garbage and walked out in my new shoes and a smile. I was under budget and had enough left over to buy lunch - something I don't do very often and Wendy's in right across the street!
On the way home my headache returned with a vengence and I figured the only thing that would resolve this annoyance would be to sleep it off. But first, I wanted to make one more stop in Houghton Lake. I went to the used bookstore to confirm she still wanted me for the summer, she does! While I was there, I picked up 3 books for $1.90 - I have a credit from previous books I dropped off. Again, I was getting into my car with a smile. I was thinking of a nice nap in the hammock, it was 78 degrees.
On the way home, it started raining, the temperature dropped to 64 and I changed my plan to an inside nap in the back bedroom. I threw some chicken in the crock pot and retired to the bedroom for my long anticipated nap. I slept for about 3 or 4 hours and when I woke up, the headache was gone.
I reheated a cup of coffee and Sadie and I sat on the deck and read the paper. I read the paper, Sadie kept looking at the woods anxiously, she was panting and her tail was tucked. She calmed after awhile, but she had me watching the woods for awhile too. I went in when it started cooling off and was surprised to see it was almost 8:30pm and I had not fed myself or Sadie. The chicken is still cooking so I fed Sadie, grabbed some cheese and crackers and settled on the couch.
Aaaah, Saturday.
