Ah, Easter at the hunting camp!
I was so anxious to get out there I went out earlier than anyone else. I had to stop at my parents to pick up a key to get through the gate. My father gave me two sets of keys to try one, as one was an untried spare.
The spare got me through the gate and Sadie and I had arrived! It was very windy and cool but I was still looking forward to a walk. I unloaded the car, turned on the pump, opened the curtains, and then we set out.
The first place we went was around the bend in the river. The waterfowl were there to get out of the wind. Saw some mallards and one of the swans. The swan may have been sitting on a nest, but, as you can tell from the photo, I was too far away to tell for sure.
As we came back, my parents arrived. I help them unload and as we got settled my sister and Sean arrived. I figured we had better get going on our walk before everyone arrived and then we would not be able to get our walk in at all. Everyone agreed it was too cold and windy to go with us, so we set out alone down the road.
I wandered into a warm field of sunshine with an oil well in the middle of it. Then back out to the road where we ran into my aunt who was walking in after being dropped off farther down the road. I talked her into turning around and joining us. We laughed at Sadie frolicking with all of her pent-up energy, and as I call it, spring fever.
We did not get far before the wind chased us back to the club. We played cards (nickel tonk), cut potatoes, chatted and relaxed while listening to the wind outside.
Dinner was wonderful as always, and as always, the time comes to an end too soon. My only regret was not taking a picture of all 7 of us sitting around the big round table full of food.
I managed to get a second walk in after dinner with Sadie. She was still energetic. She promptly overdid it and limped, pathetically, the rest of the evening.
Thankfully, no long-term effects. Just a little stiff the following day.
Oh, and the best part? I was given the spare set of keys! WooHoo!
