Unfortunately, the one that started around the SE corner of Crawford County quickly spread in a south west direction, toward the village of Roscommon. It is still burning as I write and has consumed over 7000 acres and forced 100s of evacuations. They closed the college where I work at 2pm today because the wind changed direction and began blowing toward the college. To compound the problem, due to several road closures, there was only one way to get in and out of the campus - so I wasn't going to argue! I packed some files in case we needed to work from home on Thursday, and hit the road.
These photos were taken yesterday. I went for a walk with Sadie but it was hard to breath. The air smelled strongly of smoke and the light from the sun through the smoke was surreal. I ended up driving all around the lake to take photos. These were all I have had a chance to edit and post so far.
Marl Lake
Pioneer Hill
On Saturday, Sadie and I are going to participate in"Bark for Life" for the American Cancer Society. I am looking forward to it. I gave Sadie a bath today. She rolled in turkey shit on our walk and I didn't notice until it had dried. That stuff is like glue! Anyway, couldn't have a smelly dog on Saturday!

We could see the smoke from our new home south of you near Gladwin on Tuesday. (Hi) Hope your place is out of danger and it is under control soon. I love UpNorth and it is so sad to see this distruction.
