Full Time Student

The past 6 weeks have flown by!
I am now a full time, online student working toward my bachelor degree in Computer Information Systems. I dislike one of my classes intensely, but that course's group project has resulted in getting to know some good people. I am certainly enjoying the experience.

With the exception of my third week, it has been manageable. It is challenging. I work harder and longer now than I did when I worked full time! I am working every day. A light day may be a hour or two, and I had one really bad day where I worked for 12 hours (yeah, that aforementioned third week). Usually, I take about 6 hours before my brain shuts down. Then I do something else for a few hours and revisit my course in the evening.

Next week, Week 7, is finals. I have projects due, the usual amount of homework, and finals. I will be glad when it's over. I will have a 2 week break and then start another 7 week session. I am already looking forward to it.

They are accelerated or condensed courses. They fit an entire semester into 7 weeks. Each semester has 2 sessions, with 2 courses per session considered full time. It sounds easy, but it's not. In my first week, I signed up for 5 courses in the fall semester and my adviser told me it wasn't a good idea. I took his advice thinking, "let's see how it goes, I bet I can take 3 and handle it". I'm so glad I only have 4 classes next semester! With the session schedule, I should be able to finish in a little over a year.

I found out today that I qualified for special consideration because of my financial situation - unemployed. I will be eligible for federal grants. I'm thrilled because the thought of going into more debt with financial loans is freaking me out. I hope this helps.

It's time for some down time for my brain. I'm going to turn on Netflix and zone out to Law & Order.
