Tuesday, St. Antler's Day, Safety Day, Opening Day....Deer Season!

Of course, the world stopped for Deer Season. Yawn. I did take a photo of the buck pole in town at 1pm. It had 10 deer on it. I'm sure it seems like a barbaric custom to city folk.

I've been really sick since Oct. 21. Coincidentally, 4 days after my flu shot.  Sore throat, respiratory infection, no voice except that of a frog.  On my second 5 day z-pack. Joy.

However, something good has come out of this. Because of all the cold medicine I was taking, I was reluctant to take my pain medicine in combination with all the Tylenol. I haven't taken my pain meds in about 10 days.  I don't have any pain!

The only thing I can think it would be it the new supplement I am taking. My T3 tested low and my doctor prescribed iodine drops to bring it up. Ever since I started them, I haven't had to take pain meds.  It could be a coincidence. I will monitor it. But if it's permanent? Wow!

Been on a couple dates. No sparks, no connections. There are several irons in the fire and a couple are very interesting. :)  We will see what develops.

Drunken neighbor continued to be a problem throughout the summer.  He is simply referred to an ND (neighborhood drunk) on facebook now. I had to bang on his door to get him to turn his music down.  Later in the summer, he met his 15 year son for the first time. Now they come up and they stay up all hours around the bonfire. *sigh*

The end of June, Jordan and I went to visit some of my friends at their cabin in Cadillac. Jordan's first outhouse! It was lots of fun. We spent the whole day there. We hung out at the lake with out chairs in the water, a snake swam by, there was some fishing and goofing off. Then had burgers cooked over the fire. It was awesome. Even Sadie was exhausted by the end of the day.

Had a great time at Merritt Speedway for their end of the season event. Went with Ed and Ed and met up with some other friends and their children there. Had a riot! Even in the rain. There were monster trucks, school bus races, and some wreck race or another that was fun to watch. When that was done, the monster trucks ran over the wrecks. :) I had never been there before and lived within 40 minutes most of my life. I want to go back!

Went to Ann Arbor Fiber Festival in October and had so much fun! I stayed with my friend, Soo Soo and we went out every night and I treated it like a mini vacation. Ate out, went to an outdoor festival, ate soft pretzels, gave out glow sticks to the crowd, ran with furries, and walked all over downtown Wyndotte and Ann Arbor. Went to a cider mill and bought lots of Honey Crisps. I had to nap on Saturday! lol I almost cried when I had to leave.

Work

My face to face class at the college is amazing! I am loving it. It is a lot of work, but I love my students. I was so nervous the first night, but now I'm bummed there are only a few more weeks left.  I am hoping to be invited back.

Finally got a smart phone from work! It is a blackberry and I am having fun getting to know it, but I really want an iPhone. :)

The online course is still being developed. It has been moved from Winter semester to Summer now. Fingers are crossed, I still hope to have it finished by end of this year.

I may have to go back on the dole for the winter and I don't want to do that. It is too hard to pay the bills working one job part time and drawing unemployment. 

I'm now co-teaching 21 Things for Teachers in our area. We had people sign up from Traverse and Gaylord. We limited it to 30 participants and we're going to keep to it. It is a lot of work, but rewarding and insightful to see everyone step outside their comfort zone and get excited about using technology in their teaching!
